Early detection of breast cancer improves survival rates.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breast cancer is characterized as a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. The type of cancer that develops in the breast is based on the type of cell that starts as cancer.

While early discovery typically increases a victim’s chance of survival, breast cancer, like other forms of cancer, is fatal.

According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), “breast cancer survival is not uniformly high throughout the world,” which helps to explain the catastrophic impacts of the disease in the African region. Significant differences exist in survival rates between established and developing nations, as well as between various social categories within nations”[1].

Including men in the fight against the threat of breast cancer?

This will sound funny but then men cannot be relegated from being involved in solving issues like breast cancer which always threatens the safety and wellness of women and the girl child.

Some scientists (in a report by The Punch Newspaper titled ‘Why men are irresistibly drawn to breasts’)[2] confirmed the love of men for breasts, hence, involving men in the protection of what they love by which they will serve as watchdogs for early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer will be most appropriate.

On this note, men should always urge their wives, fiancés or girlfriends to conduct regular breast checks to prevent untimely death from the disease.
